The 2024 US presidential election will be the 60th US presidential election. The election will elect the president of the United States for the term 2025–2029. Incumbent President Joe Biden can be elected for another term.
Election day is Tuesday 5 November 2024.
The two main parties will hold primaries between January and June 2024 between the candidates running for office. The first Democratic primary will be on 23 January 2024 in New Hampshire.[a] The first Republican primary will be on 15 January 2024 in Iowa. On "Super Tuesday", March 5, there will be several primaries.
The Democrats will formally select their presidential nominee at their nominating convention in Chicago on August 19-22, 2024. The Republican nominating convention will be in Milwaukee on July 15-18, 2024.
Election debates between the Democratic and Republican candidates are scheduled for 16 September 2024, 1 October 2024, and 9 October 2024
